If you’ve ever wanted to visit the Willy Wonka chocolate factory in real life, I’ve got a sweet alternative for you to check out: the Museum of Ice Cream!
The Museum of Ice Cream is a fun experience for both kids and adults alike. I visited the location in Austin, Texas at The Domain this past spring, but they do have locations in NYC, Chicago, and Singapore. The Austin space consists of several ice cream themed rooms perfect for photos, as well as interactive activities such as a “whack-a-mole” styled game, a human-sized hamster wheel for the littles to play around in, and a pool of giant sprinkles!
If you’re more interested in actually eating ice cream rather than the photo opportunities, don’t worry. True to their name, the Museum of Ice Cream offers a variety of ice cream flavors at several stops throughout the building, including the pink vanilla, cookies and cream, cotton candy, and more. I was also thrilled to find cotton candy in the animal cracker room!

Keep in mind that the tickets to get in do cost anywhere from $21 – $32 depending on the time of day, plus a service fee, so it’s important to know what you are getting out of the experience. Between the photo opportunities and multiple rounds of ice cream, I felt that it was reasonable pricing for what I got out of the trip.
Below are some photos from my trip there:

Once you finish up at the sprinkle pool, you’ll end up in this “diner” style room. There, you can buy some more ice cream and drinks, or purchase a few souvenirs to take with you before heading back out into The Domain.
All in all, this was a fun experience and I would recommend checking it out if you have the time!
